Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours a day should I wear removable braces?
The required wearing time depends on your individual treatment plan. In most cases, however, the aligners should be worn 14 to 16 hours a day to achieve the best results. Once we’ve reached significant progress, they are often only needed at night to stabilize your smile.
Can I eat while wearing removable braces?
No, it's best to take them out while eating or drinking anything other than water. This helps prevent damage and keeps the braces clean.
Are removable braces comfortable?
Most patients find them more comfortable than fixed braces. Some mild pressure is normal at first, but it usually fades as your teeth adjust.
How do I clean my removable braces?
Rinse your appliance with water before each use and clean it daily with toothpaste and a medium- to hard-bristled toothbrush. If you notice buildup that can’t be removed with brushing alone, we recommend a deep cleaning – either with special cleaning tablets or citric acid powder. Simply dissolve the powder in hot water and soak the appliance for 15–30 minutes. Important: Always rinse thoroughly with water before putting it back in to ensure no cleaning residues remain.
What happens if I forget to wear them?
Skipping time can delay progress. If you forget occasionally, just wear them as much as possible the following days—but let your orthodontist know if it happens often.
