Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I need to wear aligners each day?
Ideally, 20–22 hours a day. The more consistent you are, the better and faster the results. The aligners should only be removed from your mouth when eating and brushing your teeth, and otherwise, they should remain in your mouth at all times. After every meal, you should always brush your teeth and clean the aligners with a toothbrush and toothpaste. If you don't have the opportunity to brush your teeth every meal, we recommend at least rinsing your mouth with water and removing any large food particles with interdental brushes before inserting the aligners. Brushing your teeth thoroughly every evening is a must.
Can I eat and drink normally with aligners?
You'll need to take them out to eat or drink anything other than water. should remove the aligners when eating and drinking (except for water). This keeps them clean and prevents discoloration. Ideally, if you consume sugary drinks, it would be beneficial to brush your teeth or at least rinse your mouth with water before inserting the aligners.
Will people notice I’m wearing them?
Probably not! The aligners are very thin, transparent, and fit tightly – most people don't even notice them. For many, braces feel like a second skin.
What if I lose or damage an aligner?
It happens. It's not a big deal! If you're about to switch to the next aligner, you can simply insert the new aligner a little earlier than planned and check that it fits well. If you notice a gap anywhere, please come in for a checkup. A gap (space between the teeth and the aligner) is not ideal. If you recently started wearing the now defective aligner, we will likely need to make a new aligner.
If you're still unsure what to do, please contact us.
Are aligners painful or hard to get used to?
Some mild pressure is normal at first, but it usually fades in a day or two as your teeth adjust.
How do I clean my aligners?
Care Instructions for Your Aligners
Rinse your aligners with cool to lukewarm water every time you remove them – never with hot water, as it can cause them to warp. Once a day, gently clean them with a soft toothbrush and a little toothpaste. This keeps your aligners hygienic, fresh, and perfectly shaped
